US to introduce export control, border security program in Turkmenistan

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has hosted a meeting with Nick Cavellero, the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program advisor at the US Department of State, and the program manager David Sulaberidze, the customs service said in a message.

EXBS is an initiative of the US Department of State.

“The main goal of the program is to prevent illegal circulation of strategic goods,” the message said.

At the meeting, the parties noted the need to improve the legislative base of states in this direction.

The parties expressed confidence that cooperation as part of the program will develop dynamically.

Turkmenistan has a land border with Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and maritime border along the Caspian Sea with Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia and Kazakhstan.
