Azerbaijan sees decrease in number of mobile subscribers

The mobile communication penetration rate decreased 1.8 percent in Azerbaijan for 2017, according to a short statistical publication “Azerbaijan in Figures 2018” by the State Statistics Committee.

As of the end of 2017, 104 mobile phone numbers accounted for every 100 people in Azerbaijan. For comparison: 106 mobile phone numbers accounted for every 100 people in Azerbaijan in 2016.

The average tariff for 100 minutes of mobile calls during the month was 6.7 manats in 2017. This indicator remained unchanged in comparison with the one in 2016.

In 2017, the tariff for voice mobile communication accounted for 1.5 percent of the average monthly national income per capita. This indicator also remained unchanged compared to the one in 2016.

The number of mobile phone numbers in use in Azerbaijan declined 0.6 percent in 2017. As of the end of 2017, 10.127 million mobile phone numbers were in use in the country, which is 62,000 mobile phone numbers less than in 2016.

There are three mobile operators in Azerbaijan - Azercell, Bakcell and Azerfon (Nar trademark), the subscriber base of which is 4.5 million, 3.6 million and over 2 million people, respectively.
