Number of connections to landline telephone system grows in Azerbaijan

There were 1,876 landline telephone exchanges in Azerbaijan in 2017, which is 3.3 percent more than in 2016, according to a short statistical publication “Azerbaijan in Figures 2018” by the State Statistics Committee.

The capacity of telephone exchanges for 2017, having increased by 0.6 percent, reached 1.881 million numbers.

There were 1.455 million basic telephones in use in Azerbaijan at the end of 2017, which is 0.2 percent more than in 2016. Some 91 percent of the total number of basic telephones (1.323 million) was in the use of households.

As many as 155 telephones accounted per 1,000 people at the end of 2017 (this figure was also 155 in 2016). Sixty-three telephone sets accounted for 100 families in 2017 (the same figure in 2016).

There were 744 payphones in Azerbaijan in 2017, which is one percent less than in 2016.
