Turkish Railways Machines Industry Inc. (TUDEMSAS) will begin production of freight cars for Azerbaijan, Trend reports referring to Turkish media.

The total amount of the order is $36 million, and the Turkish company must produce 600 cars for the customer.

TUDEMSAS' CEO Mehmet Basoglu said that the work they have done to implement this project is nearing completion.

"The gauge width in Azerbaijan differs from the Turkish one, it is 1,520 and 1,430 millimeters, respectively. Azerbaijan now imports the necessary railway equipment from Russia. Our production is not suitable for them in terms of gauge width. For this reason, we made two prototype cars for work on the railway lines of both countries. Tests yielded positive results. Having added the necessary equipment, we will proceed to production," he said.

TUDEMSAS, specializing in the production of freight cars, was founded in 1939 in Sivas, Turkey.
