Rail freight transport amounted to slightly more than $2 billion in Azerbaijan in January-August 2019, which is 2.6 percent more than the figures for the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to a report by Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC).
For the reporting period, freight transportation by rail amounted to almost 4.6 million tons, which is 7.04 percent more than last year.
The volume of export rail traffic amounted to 1.5 million tons (an increase of 12.4 percent) in the amount of $ 493.4 million (an increase of 1.9 percent).
Meanwhile, railway transshipment of imported goods amounted to 3 million tons (increase of 4.5 percent) for the reporting period and was worth $1.5 billion (an increase of 2.8 percent).
Azerbaijan’s trade amounted to $22.9 billion during the reporting period overall, with exports worth $13.5 billion, and imports worth about $9.4 billion.
