BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18
By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:
Azerbaijan’s TITAN GROUP industrial and construction corporation will increase the production of polyisocyanurate (PIR) sandwich panels this year up to 40-50 percent, a source in the corporation told Trend.
“The issue relates to the fire-resistant sandwich panels made of PIR, which are used for the construction of residential buildings, walls, roofs and other things, as well as panels made of polyurethane foam (PUR), which is lightweight material used as thermal insulation,” the source said.
"This year, the corporation is considering the possibility of expanding the range of this type of industrial product and exporting it to the foreign markets, namely, Russia and Georgia,” the source said. “The export of products is scheduled for April-May 2020. The corporation is the only producer of this type of product in the South Caucasus."
The corporation has a Russian certificate of conformity certifying the quality management system, environmental management system, as well as occupational safety system, in relation to the production of sandwich panels made of PUR (polyurethane) and PIR foams, intended for transformer container houses, industrial gates and technological doors, doors for cool stores, refrigerated display cases, retail shelving, electric, gas, frying plates and other products.
In contrast to traditional thermal insulation, PUR foam and PIR foam panels have several advantages.
Firstly, this is low thermal conductivity thanks to PUR and PIR materials containing gas with extremely low thermal conductivity inside their cells. The thermal conductivity of the heaters themselves is in the range from 0.020 Watts per meter-Kelvin (W/mK) to 0.025 W/mK. Secondly, new construction products provide material density and extremely low water absorption.
Due to their closed-type cellular structure, PUR and PIR absorb no more than 1 percent in mass. Such a low figure cannot be achieved on any other insulation for sandwich panels.
Two types of sandwich panels are environmentally friendly materials as they don’t emit harmful substances during operation, such as phenols or styrenes.
PIR belongs to the class of thermosetting polymers which don’t change their shape with increasing temperatures. The PIR sandwich panels are fire resistant and have high fire resistance properties. Under the influence of the PIR flame, a protective carbon crust forms on its surface, which is a natural barrier to fire and blocks its spread inside the sandwich panels.
At the same time, the PUR and PIR sandwich panels are fundamentally different in terms of fire safety, and are mainly used in the construction of cool stores, vegetable stores and buildings with high-frequency equipment.
TITAN GROUP was established in 2002. The company specializes in the production of a new type of sandwich panels with polyisocyanurate foam (PIR), refrigeration equipment for commercial and industrial use, as well as equipment for catering enterprises.
The company’s branches are located in the settlement of Bulbul in Baku’s Surakhani district and in the settlement of Bina.
