EU survey names priority sectors for companies eager to partake in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh projects

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Most of the EU companies that wish to participate in the restoration of Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions of Azerbaijan consider spreading their investments in civil construction, Trend reports via the EU Business Climate Survey.

According to the research, 37 percent of the surveyed EU companies are interested in civil construction, while 36 percent are interested in renewable energy development. Transport and infrastructure rank third among the priority sectors for the EU companies (32 percent).

Among other sectors of interest for the EU companies in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and Zangezur economic regions are agriculture (25 percent of the surveyed), manufacturing (24 percent), ICT (20 percent), mining and natural resources (20 percent), and water irrigation (15 percent), according to the survey.

Meanwhile, some 40 percent of the surveyed EU companies are ready to invest but still waiting for a good opportunity, while 34 percent do not have current investments plans but are wishing to join the restoration process.

Those EU companies that are ready to invest and have already started to work in this direction accounted for 14 percent of the surveyed, the report said.
