BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. In the third quarter of 2023, oil and gas from Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) and Shah Deniz continued to flow via subsea pipelines to the Sangachal terminal, a source at bp told Trend.
According to the company, the current daily processing capacity of the terminal's systems stands at 1.2 million barrels for crude oil and condensate, along with approximately 81 million standard cubic meters of Shah Deniz gas. The overall processing and export capacity for gas, which includes ACG associated gas, is approximately 100 million standard cubic meters per day.
During the initial three quarters of the current year, the Sangachal terminal facilitated the export of approximately 172 million barrels of oil and condensate (171 million barrels in 3Q2022). This export volume comprises roughly 171 million barrels transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline (164 million barrels in 3Q2022) and around 1 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) (7 million barrels in 3Q2022).
The company noted that gas exports are managed through the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), encompassing the SCP expansion system, and Azerbaijan's pipeline connections that link the terminal's gas processing facilities with Azerigas's national grid system.
On average, during the first three quarters of 2023, the terminal handled the daily export of approximately 71 million standard cubic meters (equivalent to about 2,522 million standard cubic feet) of Shah Deniz gas, which is an increase of 6 percent, compared to the same period of 2022 (67 million standard cubic meters (about 2,362 million standard cubic feet) in 3Q2022).
