Azerbaijan's gold and silver output on rise - State Statistics Committee

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. Azerbaijan increased gold production from January through February 2024 by 0.2 percent to 263.6 kilograms compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistics Committee (SSC), out of the total, 125.3 kilograms were mined in January 2024 and 138.3 kilograms in February.

The SSC reported that silver production totaled 567.7 kg from January through February 2024 (up 22.7 percent).

Azerbaijan has 219.6 kg of mined gold and 550.7 kg of silver in the warehouses of precious metals-producing companies as of March 1, 2024. All gold mined in the country is sent to Switzerland for refineries for enrichment and bullion production.

Currently, the state-owned AzerGold CJSC (established in 2015) and the British company Anglo Asian Mining PLC (operating under an international contract signed in 1997) are engaged in the extraction of precious metals in Azerbaijan.
