BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. Copper production has sharply declined in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
The State Statistics Committee's data showed that copper concentrate production from January through February 2024 decreased by 16 times compared to the same period in 2023.
In the first two months of this year, Azerbaijan produced 32.2 tons of copper concentrate, compared to 536.7 tons in the same period in 2023.
The tendency toward decreasing copper production emerged at the end of 2023 due to reconstruction work at several Azerbaijani deposits.
In 2023, the country produced 2.1 million tons of copper concentrate, which is 15.8 percent less than the 2022 figure.
The Azerbaijani government forecasted copper production to exceed 4,000 tons in 2024; however, these plans will be adjusted based on the current data.
