BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. Bulgaria has expressed interest in purchasing additional volumes of natural gas from Azerbaijan, an informed source told Trend.
“Such supplies are of interest to Bulgaria both for domestic consumption and for transit to the countries of Central Eastern Europe,” the source pointed out.
According to the source, Azerbaijan is a key partner for Bulgaria in the implementation of one of the country's main energy priorities - diversification of energy sources.
“Thanks to its well-developed gas transportation infrastructure, Bulgaria can accept additional supplies that will strengthen the energy security of not only Bulgaria but also the entire region of Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe,” the source emphasized.
Additionally, the source mentioned that Bulgaria has expressed strong support for the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor.
To note, Bulgaria has been receiving Azerbaijani gas since 2021. In 2024, Bulgaria can receive about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
