Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Armenia is negotiating with Russian and Canadian companies on construction of a nuclear reactor capable of 1,000 MW to be completed in 2016, the representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Azerbaijan, Adil Garibov, reported at a press conference. According to him, the new reactor will cost $4-5bln.
The reactors of the Armenia's Metsamor atomic power station are old and pose danger.
The reactor of the atomic power station constructed in compliance with old methods in a seismic area is also very dangerous.
The monitoring held by IAEA experts in Metsamor found out that the reactor can be exploited till 2013, Garibov said.
