Azerbaijan, Fuzuli, 18 April / corr Trend A.Ismayilova / Azerbaijan has no intention to reconcile with injustice demonstrated by the world community in the resolution of the Armenian -Azerbaijani conflict. "They have called for us to compromise. However, what is the compromise? Is it the issue of independence for Nagorno-Karabakh?" the President inquired, addressing the public in Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan on 18 April.

He said that countries which solve different problems worldwide are unwilling to demonstrate a fair standpoint in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. "If previously we used to speak about it behind closed doors, now we talk about it openly," The president stressed.

He said that Armenia is delaying the peaceful resolution to the conflict and deceives the international world. "Though they have stated that they accept proposals by the mediators, they continue the policy of illegal placement in the occupied Lachin District of Azerbaijan, while the mediators close their eyes to that fact," President Aliyev stressed.

According to the President, over the subsequent months it is necessary to clarify further continuation of talks. "We hope that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will be restored, as everything has its end. The Azerbaijani Army is the most powerful in the region and in a position to liberate its land," the head of state said.

The conflict between the two countries of the South Caucasus began in 1988 due to Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20% of Azerbaijan including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven surrounding districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time the active hostilities ended. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France, and the US) are currently holding peaceful negotiations.
