Definite form of voting reflecting people's will to be used in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement: U.S. Assistant Secretary of State

On June 9, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State on European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon stated in Yerevan that any mechanism reflecting people's will must be included in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process, Novosti Armenia reported.

"Any mechanism of voting, via which the people express their will, must be included in the settlement process," said Gordon, answering the question on possibility of holding a referendum.

The Assistant Secretary of State said that ensuring the self-determination right of peoples is a principle, like the principles of territorial integrity and non-use of weapons.

"The result must reflect the three principles, each of which has its importance," said Gordon.
