Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region was registered in the ministry of justice again.

"We applied to the ministry of justice concerning registration due to changes in the charter at the meeting in June and got positive reply," head of coordination council of Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region, Mehdi Abdullayev, told Trend on August 6.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan lost all of Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojali in December 1991. In 1992-93, Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, Khojali and 7 districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Abdullayev said that there is necessity in passing state registration due to changes in the name of community and adoption of new charter at the meeting. "We faced no difficulties with registration as we have legal address," head of the council said.

The first meeting of Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region was held on June 5. Reforming of the community's structure was discussed at the meeting. As a result, decision was made to rename Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh region into community of Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijani. Head of executive power, Bayram Safarov, was elected head of community.
