Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 4 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The Azerbaijani side has not violated the ceasefire regime. It remains committed to the agreement earlier achieved with Armenia, Teymur Abdullayev, deputy head of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's press-service, told Trend today.

Another incident occurred on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on Saturday with the use of a sniper weapon. As a result, soldier-contractor Samvel Nikolyan was wounded from the allegedly Azerbaijani side, the Armenian media reported.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. Up to now the ceasefire regime is violated from time to time by the Armenian side.

"If any armed incidents occur in the Armenian army, it is their internal problem," Abdullayev said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of Nagorno Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
