Azerbaijan's State Commission on POWs, Hostages and Missing People confirmed capture of an Azerbaijani soldier in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Commission's Secretary Shahin Sailov told Trend on Wednesday.

Azerbaijani Defense Ministry also confirmed the information.
He said captive soldier is Mammadbagir Akhundzade (born in 1990), sergeant of military unit N. in the Tartar region.

As Sailov said, there is no information on the soldier's voluntary surrender or capture by force. Investigation is underway.

Earlier the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed the information.
The ICRC Khankendi Office received information from "de facto" authorities of Nagorno Karabakh regarding capture of an Azerbaijani soldier, the ICRC Baku Office Spokesperson Shahla Gahramanova told Trend on Wednesday.

If possible, the ICRC employees will visit the captive soldier.

Armenian media outlets reported about the capture of sergeant of Azerbaijani Armed Forces near the Yukhary Chayli village on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
