Over 350 cultural monuments, cemeteries and mosques have been left in the Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev said at the International Conference on the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Baku on Friday.
Historical monuments in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan are barbarously destroyed, and, from a religious point of view, they fact a complete lack of respect, Garayev said.
"We have to bring it to the attention of the international community at all international conferences," the Minister said.
He said due the policy pursued by the President of Azerbaijan all the historical monuments in the country are being rehabilitated and restored.
The Icheri sheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve is an example for the whole world. This proves that the preservation of cultural heritage within a large modern developing city is possible, he said.
