Over 2.5 mln square meters of territories cleared of mines in Azerbaijan in April

Over 2.541 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in April 2012, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Friday.

Over 2.541 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in April 2012, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on Friday.

As a result of operations 751 unexploded ammunition, 2 antitank mines and 9 antipersonnel mines were found and neutralized.

Some 484 experts participated and 118 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 36 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations.

So far the agency cleared 190.248 million square meters of land, found and neutralized 671,404 mines and unexploded ammunition.

ANAMA operates in Agdam, Agstafa, Agjabadi, Fuzuli, Goranboy, Terter, Samukh, Ganja regions, Guzdek settlement in the Garadag district of Baku and the territory of mud volcanoes Gildag in Absheron region.

In April, no case of mine/unexploded ammunition was recorded.
