Extraordinary Parliamentary Elections in Turkey Will be Beginning of New Development Stage in Country : Azerbaijani MP

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The extraordinary parliamentary elections in Turkey will be the beginning of the new development stage in the Country, said the Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Reforms Party (DRP), MP Asim Mollazade, on 23 July in Baku.

Mollazade said that the Justice and Development Party which had gained victory in the elections will firstly work at improving the social welfare of the population. "The elections have demonstrated the will of the population according to which the Government of Turkey will be formed," Mollazade said.

With regards to the threats against the traditions of the worldwide statehood, Mollazade said that there is opposition in Turkey which is capable to stand against this process. "Together with the Armed Forces, there are other forces in Turkey which support constructional statehood. Therefore, I think that there cannot be any threats to traditions of the worldwide statehood in Turkey," Mollazade.

Presidential elections will take place in Turkey in the near future. Mollazade believes that it is not worthy to expect serious changes in the foreign policy of Turkey. According to the MP, after elections, the harsh stance of Turkey in its fight against terrorism will remain unchanged. The Turkish-Azerbaijani relations do not depend on any elections or their results, ADP's Chairman stated.

Extraordinary parliamentary elections took place in Turkey on 22 July. According to the final count, the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey collected 44.66% out of the votes and gained 341 seats in the Parliament. The ruling party is followed by the Republic Popular Party (20.85%) which gained 111 seats in the Parliament. Third place was taken by the National Movement Party (14.29%) which will be represented at the Parliament by 70 deputies. In addition, 27 independent parliamentarians were elected to protect the rights of Kurd the separatists.
