By Ilkin Izzet - Trend: Azerbaijan's National Security Ministry has detained another person who is being suspected in an attempt of blowing up a mosque in Azerbaijan, the ministry said on Nov. 26.
Earlier, a terrorist group was neutralized in Azerbaijan. The members of the group attempted to commit this terror act.
As a result of operative investigative measures conducted by the National Security Ministry, a citizen of Azerbaijan, Elkhan Ahmadov was detained as a suspect in the criminal case instituted with regard to the illegal acquisition of a large amount of explosive devices and materials, ammunition, firearms and preparation of terrorist acts for the purpose of killing people in Azerbaijan.
Operational investigative activities on identification of other participants of these illegal actions and thorough investigation of this criminal case are underway. Elkhan Ahmadov was hold criminally liable as a suspect, and arrest was chosen as a preventive measure with regard to him.
According to the message, in April of 2012 Nariman Mirzayev, Mirzahmad Rustamov and others plotted to carry out an explosion with a terrorist intent to commit murders, violate public safety, sow panic among the population and inflict considerable material damage. To this end, the above mentioned persons acquired a large number of firearms and ammunitions.
They carried out surveillance of the Mashadi Dadash mosque in Yasamal district with a purpose of setting up an explosion.
Nariman Mirzayev also instructed Mirzahmad Rustamov to prepare a special hideout in the Gusar region where they could seek cover from law enforcement officers after a terrorist attack and if necessary resist them.
After the preparation for a terrorist attack Nariman Mirzayev posted notices on Facebook on the 'beginning of Jihad', as well as the calls for the murder of mullah of Mashadi Dadash mosque in Baku, Shahin Hasanov.
Thanks to operational and investigative activities undertaken by the Ministry of National Security, Nariman Mirzayev and Mirzahmad Rustamov were detained.

As a result of the search, large quantities of firearms and ammunition were found on them and seized.
