U.S. citizen who joined radical Islamists arrested in Jordan

A U.S citizen who joined radical Islamists has been arrested in Jordan, Al-Jazeera TV channel reported on Dec.3.

Information about the description of the arrested U.S. citizen hasn't yet been disclosed, according to the TV channel.

Alongside the U.S. citizen, over 100 radical Islamists (jihadists) who intended to enter Syria to participate in military activities against the country's government have also been arrested, the TV channel reported.

In addition, special operations were conducted in Jordan earlier in order to neutralize radical Islamists who intended entering Syria.

During the conflict in Syria which began in March 2011, over 115, 000 people were killed and over 4.2 million have become refugees in Syria, as well as two million having fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving the refugees lies on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million.
