Person Suspected in Building Collapsing in Azerbaijani Neapol Leisure Centre Detained

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Foreman Shamil Mahmud oghlu Aliyev has been detained due to a building's collapse in the Azerbaijani Neapol leisure centre, the Deputy Prosecutor of Absheron region, Rauf Movsumov, reported on 15 August.

Movsumov said that the detained person is charged in accordance with Article 222.2 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code (violation of security regulations in construction, mining, or other work resulting in death or other serious consequences).

The Deputy Prosecutor did not call the contractor of the construction work.

A building fell in Neapol leisure centre in Baku in the evening of 14 August. A man was injured, two remained under the ruins. On 15 August the rescuers dug out the body of Rafig Mammadov, 57, - an internally displaced person from Azerbaijani Zangilan region.

The search for Rauf Abdullayev, 43, a native of Sumgayit city, continues.
