Georgian & Azerbaijani Defense Ministers Sign Agreement on Military Cooperation

Georgia, Tbilisi / corr Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / The Defense Ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan signed an action plan on military cooperation for 2008 in Tbilisi on 17 September.

Journalists were not allowed at the signing ceremony, though were invited earlier. Defense ministers David Kezerashvili and Safar Abiyev refused to make any comments after the signing ceremony.

An official welcoming ceremony was held in honor of the Azerbaijani minister and anthems of the three countries were played.

The defense ministers left the Ministry for Hero Square and layed wreathes on a memorial for victims of territorial integrity of Georgia.

This evening Abiyev will meet with the Georgian President Mikhael Saakashvili at Metehis Restaurant.

On 18 September Abiyev will visit a new military base of the 2nd brigade in Senaki, western Azerbaijan, which meets with all NATO's advanced requirements. Afterwards he will leave for Borzhomi to visit Romanovs Palace.
