Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Chairman of the Azerbaijan Civil Solidarity Party (CSP), Sabir Rustamkhanli, has been accused that he does not join opposition parties due to his pro-governmental position. Rustamkhanli reported to Trend that he ignores such accusations.

Several opposition political organizations, the Musavat Party, the National Independence Party, the Democratic Party, the Social-Democratic Party and the Tereggi party, hold periodical meetings in form of consultative council. The remaining political opposition parties remain apart from this.

The Chairman of Tereggi party, Chingiz Demiroglu, said that the reason why the CSP has not joined the bloc is the loyal attitude of the party towards the government. "There is a biased attitude towards the representatives of the opposition partiers in Parliament," Demiroglu said, noting that Rustamkhanli is a member of the Parliament.

Rustamkhanli does not agree with these statements. The CSP had decided not to join any bloc, he said. In his opinion, opposition blocs are by no means independent and collapse at any time. "The intentions of those who disband previous blocs and establish new ones seem insincere to me. Taking into account that experience, we beware of joining such unions," he said.

The fact that CSP does not join blocs does not mean a change of its opposition position, Rustamkhanli said. He refuted accusations regarding his MP activities. According to him, CSP was fighting in the parliament and unlike other parties did not give false promises.

"I am accused by the people who cannot receive the support of the people. That is their sickness. As soon as somebody is elected an MP, he is at once accused of closeness to the authorities. But when they themselves are elected they speak differently," he said.

The CSP, the Azerbaijan National Independence Party, the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan, the Musavat party, and other parties from 1995 to 2003 were a members of a range of blocs ('Sidsukh', the Democratic Bloc, the Coordination Centre of Opposition, the Four, etc).
