Party of Regions and YTB Given Chance to Show that They Can Manage Country: Ukrainian Politician

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend A.Gasimova / The Party of Regions and Yuri Timoshenko's Bloc was given a chance to prove their country managing ability.

Mikhail Pogrebski, Director of the Kiev Political Studies and Conflict Center said: The results of the election in Ukraine shows that two political parties have almost the same public acceptance and they were both given a chance to prove their country managing ability and developing the economy.

Yuri Timoshenko's Bloc led the extraordinary parliamentary election with (33.3%) in Ukraine on September 30 and the Party of Regions followed with (30.66%) as a result of counting of 50% of the vote.

The Head of Ukrainian Central Election Commission, Vladimir Shapoval, said in Kiev that the Party of Regions won the elections in 94 districts (out of 225) in 10 regions, including Donetski - 71.04%, Lugan - 73.02%, Sevastopol - 63.92%, Krim - 63.68%, Odessa - 49.28%.

According to the information provided by the Ukrainian Central Election Commission, 62.51 percent of the voters participated in the poll.

Pogrebski considered the election as "silent".

He continued: election took place in really smooth manner with no extraordinary event.

The politician mentioned the complaints: Of course, there were complaints, but they were not significant and were less than compared to the 2004 elections

Due to the future situation in the country, experts do not expect anything extraordinary to happen in Ukraine because the results are close to what was expected and sides do understand that they have less advantage, only 10 or 15 mandates in the Parliament as the number of opponents does not give an opportunity for a big change.
