Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) is planning to demonstrate against the recognition of the so-called 'Armenians genocide' by the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives in US Congress, Akif Nagi, the chairman of KLO, said on 17 October.
The Committee of Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the US Congress passed resolution 106 by 27 votes for and 21 against on recognition of the events that took place in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 as genocide against Armenians.
The KLO considers public-political forces of Azerbaijan should express protest against the support of Armenians by the US. The KLO sent appeals to all public-political organizations calling to hold joint protest action.
Political forces have not been responded to the appeal yet. If they would do respond to the appeal then the KLO will hold a demonstration in front of the US embassy in Azerbaijan.
The KLO was established in Baku on 28 January 2000, with the objective of a public struggle for the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh. The KLO unites representatives of the intelligentsia, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), old and young people as well as former military soldiers.
Armenia and Armenian lobby have been trying their best for 92 years for the world community to recognize the events that took place in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 as genocide against Armenians. Turkey insists that the Ottoman Empire resettled Armenians due to domestic defence in the country. Turkey states the peace resettlement cannot be considered as genocide. Armenia has not responded to Turkey's proposal to form a joint commission consisting of historians from different nationalities to investigate the events that took place in 1915.
