Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr D. Khatinoglu / Recent report on Iran's nuclear plan developed by the US intelligence services may be a turning point in the West's anti-Iranian policy.

"The report on Iran's nuclear plan made by the US intelligence services is a chance for settlement of the nuclear conflict," Iranian political scientist Omid Arab said.

In its recent report dating to 3 December US's 16 intelligence services reported that in 2003 taking into consideration international pressure the official Teheran suspended its plans on creation of nuclear weapons for 4 years. The report says that creation of nuclear weapons in Iran will take at least 8 years.

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that the new report developed by the US intelligence services is a great achievement of the country. "The new report is an arrow directed at liars who have been spoiling the atmosphere for many years," Iranian IRNA news agency quoted Ahmadinejad on 5 December.

Unlike the reports regarding Iran's nuclear plan which have been developed by the United States so far, the new report may weaken the tough position the world stick to against official Teheran.

"The new report proves Iran's rightfulness. In order to gain the trust of world community in 2003 we suspended our activities on nuclear program. Iran was not indifferent to the world's concern and demonstrated a respect for world's community. However, we have not seen respect and trust for us any single time. I believe the report will commence re-conciliation and more close cooperation between the UN Security Council, Western countries and Iran, the Iranian political scientist said to Trend in a telephone talk on 5 December.

According to Arab, the report is a unique chance both for the West and Iran.

Another Iranian political scientist Ahmad Zeydabad sad to Trend in a telephone talk on 5 December that the US intelligence services' report nullified the possibility of United States' attack on Iran. "But there is no single fact showing that the West changed its position for Iran. I think the purpose of making the report is that the United States will convince the West of having no intention to attack Iran and thus will get the Western countries ready to passing new sanctions against official Teheran," Zeydabad said.
