Opposition Elections Reforms Center Likely to Appear in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Center of Opposition Elections Reforms. Is likely to be established in Azerbaijan with the participation of over 20 parties, Vugar Beyturan, the chairman of Our Azerbaijan bloc, said.

Over 20 parties, including 8 parties entering Our Azerbaijan Bloc, the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, the National Democratic Party, Azadlyg, the National Independence of Azerbaijan Party, the Popular Front of Unified Party, Adalet, Umid, the Great Establishment Party, the Open Society Party, the Civil Solidarity Party, the Social Democratic Party, Takamul, Way of Azerbaijan have been in talks in this respect for over a month. The parties decided to cooperate for democratization of the elections environment and develop joint proposals on conges to the Elections Code.

Beyturan aid that on 12 December these parties will sign a document on cooperation. Later it is planned to launch talks on establishment of the new organization in the format of '12'.

The document on cooperation will contain commitments on participation in the upcoming presidential elections in 2008 with a unified candidate. The parties will undertake such commitments as a refusal from information resistance, conduct of joint fighting against falsifications in the elections, as well as commitments for defending the electors' votes.

Beyturan also offered to make the form of '12' to the Center of Opposition Elections Reforms.the rest parties approved this proposal.
