European Union to Announce Its Conclusions on Presidential Elections in Georgia Tomorrow: EU Special Representative

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Ramazanova / On 7 January the European Union will announce its conclusions on the Presidential elections in Georgia after their closing results, the EU Special Representative for South Caucasus, Peter Semneby, reported to Trend by telephone on 6 January.

"Currently I can not comment on the data of the initial results. The EU will make its assessment tomorrow as soon as the closing results are clear," he said.

Presidential elections took place in Georgia on 5 January. According to the data by the Central Election Commission of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili collected 50.43% of the votes (89 571 votes). Saakashvili is followed by the candidate from the combined opposition, Levan Gachechiladze - 20.97% (37 225 votes).
