Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 January /corr. Trend R.Hafizoglu / "The US President George Bush's visit to Ram Allah will serve not the peaceful talks between Palestine and Israel, but the strengthening of political influence of the US Republican Party," politician Naser Lehham, reported to Trend by telephone from Palestine on 10 January.

At present, George Bush is on an official visit to the Middle East countries. On 10 Jan, Bush held talks with Mahmud Abbas, the President of Palestine, in Ram Allah.

The Director of Palestinian Maan news agency, Naser, said that the ordinary Palestinians and Israelis describe Bush's visit to region as a support to the peaceful talks. "Israeli and Palestinian officials know well that Bush's visit to Ram Allah aims to hold campaign of support to Republican Party in the upcoming presidential elections in the USA and to eliminate the worldwide opinion describing the USA as a State pursuing aggressive policy. Therefore, we do not hope that Bush's visit to Middle East will affect the peaceful talks between Palestine and Israel," the politician said.

According to Lehham, demonstrations in Israel and Palestine on the eve of Bush's visit to the region, once again showed that the US President is not desirable in the region.
