Jabiyev / Improving the maintenance conditions of the Azerbaijani internally displaced persons (IDPs) is priority issue for Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on 17 January at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Complex in the Guzanli village in the Agdam region of Azerbaijan located close to the occupied territories.
President Aliyev's visit to the Agdam region began on 17 January. The President visited the Heydar Aliyev Monument and attended the opening ceremony of the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
In 2007-2011, AZN 5mln will be spent to improve the maintenance conditions of the IDPs. Up-to-date settlements will be constructed for over 220,000 people, the President said.
Sixteen decrees and orders were signed in order to improve the living conditions of IDPs. This year more attention will be paid to these issues, he said.
"The removal of the last camp settlement at the end of 2007 was a great achievement for Azerbaijan," Ilham Aliyev said.
