Israel can not Begin Large-Scale Military Operations in Gaza: HAMAS Official

Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 January /corr. Trend R.Hafizoglu / Official representative of HAMAS considers that Israel's beginning large-scale military operations in Gaza in the conditions of blockade is impossible. "Despite that Gaza lies in blockade, Israel's troops can not enter there," the Press Secretary of HAMAS, Sami Abu Zuhri, reported to Trend on 25 January.

After the explosion in the checkpoint 'Rifah' on the border of Egypt with Gaza, information spread that tens of thousands of Palestinians infiltrated Egypt and did not come back. The experts does not exclude that removal of large part of Gaza's peaceful population may bring to large-scale military operations.

The information that large part of peaceful population removed from Gaza is groundless, Zuhri said. "The Gaza residents infiltrated Egypt not due to threat of war, but to satisfy their daily demand for products and currently large part of population have returned their homes," Zuhri said.

According to him, despite that Gaza regularly sustains missile attacks, he does not believe that Israel will begin large-scale military operations. Israel well knows the capability of HAMAS.

The Palestinian expert Isam Muhammad considers that the Gaza residents left their homes not due to the threat of war. "The information that the population infiltrated Egypt and did not come back does not correspond to reality. The Government of Egypt allowed the Gaza residents not to infiltrate Egypt's territory, but only the city of Arish which is border with Gaza," Isam Muhammad, the dean of the Islamic University of Gaza, pro-HAMAS political expert, reported to Trend by telephone from Gaza on 25 January. He considers that Israel was failure to use the opening of the borders between Egypt and Gaza for its goals. "We were fearing that the intelligence of Israel will use the tension in Gaza and prepare an attempt at the leaders of HAMAS," Palestinian expert said.

According to the politician, the critical situation in Palestine is temporary and the problem will find its political solution in the nearest future.

The Turkish expert considers that creating tension in Gaza, Israel puts physiological pressure on the Palestinians. "After explosion on the border between Egypt and Gaza, peaceful population infiltrated Egypt," the Turkish researcher, Ahmed Varol, reported to Trend via e-mail on 25 January.

Varol considers that entry of the Israeli troops to Gaza through using flow of the population into Egypt is not convincing. "Beginning large-scale military operations and losing numerous soldiers may lead to a political crisis in Israel," the expert said.

After the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, made an appeal to the Government of Egypt to re-gain control on checkpoint 'Rifah', Egypt sent additional military forces to the border with Gaza. The Government of Egypt made an ultimatum on home-coming of the Gaza residents, NEWSRU reported.
