Azerbaijani President Receives President of International Olympic Committee
Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 February / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / On 6 Feb, Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan received Jacques Rogge-the President of the International Olympic Committee and his accompanying delegation.
The Azerbaijani President has expressed his satisfaction about his previous meetings with Jacques Rogge, who is for the first time visiting Baku as the President of the International Olympic Committee.
President Ilham Aliyev said that a large number of high-level international competitions, including Athens Olympics qualifying boxing, volleyball and taekwondo tournaments were held in Azerbaijan.
He also touched upon aspect concerning the government's efforts in creating wide sports infrastructure, and said that 13 regional sport complexes, meeting the world standards, have also been built and 23 are under construction in the country.
President Ilham Aliyev said that great attention is also paid towards the improvement of the social conditions of sportsmen. "Sport is not only success and achievements, it is also the nation's future," he added.
The President of International Olympic Committee stressed that the Azerbaijan is developing in all the fields.
Jacques Rogge said International Olympic Committee welcomes the attention paid by the President Ilham Aliyev`s in developing the sports and improving the Olympic movement within the country.
