Democratic Party of Azerbaijan may Change Its Decision to Take Part in Presidential Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 February / corr. Trend S. Ilhamgizi/ Though opposition party of Azerbaijani Democratic Party (DPA) nominated its candidate for the presidency, it can boycott elections if its outcome is falsified. Gurman Mammadov, the member of the Supreme Assembly of the party said during the party meeting on 16 February.

The Assembly decided to nominate the cairman of the party Sardar Jalaloglu for the presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan in October in 2008.

Jalaoglu said that he believes that the elections in Azerbaijan can offer a way out of the problems of Azerbaijan.

The brother of Jalaloglu, the member of the Assembly, said that if the current political situation in Azerbaijan does not change, the party will not take part in the elections. Mammadov said that if there is falsification in the election process, the party will refuse to take part in them.

"We should not serve as a decoration in the false elections. If the outcome of the elections will be determined before it takes places will boycott the elections," the activist of DPA said.
