Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 February / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA) headed by Rauf Gurbanov does not recognize the party extraordinary meeting acting under the same name, Gurbanov, the CPA chairman said to Trend .
CPA supporters were divided in two; supporters of Gurbanov and supporters of Rustam Shahsuvarov's. Both parties held meetings on behalf of the party.
The party chaired by Shahsuvarov replaced Gurbanov and his supporters. Gurbanov's party and supporters took similar action against Shahsuvarov.
In January, Shahsuvarov was removed from his position. He blamed party officials and stated that Gurbanov's party was more legitimate.
The CPA, earlier headed by Shahsuvarov, held a special meeting on 24 February. Gurbanov stated that the meeting was illegal and was no relation to the Communist Party. "The meeting can be summoned with the support of 2/3 votes of communists of the country. A group of people cannot hold a meeting", he said
