Azerbaijani Opposition Bloc Makes Decision to Nominate Candidature to Presidential Post
Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 March / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The Azerbaijani Taraggi Alliance (ATA) bloc made a decision to nominate candidature Chingiz Damiroglu, bloc's chairman, to the presidential post, Damiroglu reported to Trend .
"I will inform the Council of ATA, the decision concerning the nomination of my candidature or the candidature of others during the presidential elections," Damiroglu said. Damiroglu may even support the candidature of most successful candidate from the opposition.
Leaders from the Public Forum For Azerbaijan, Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani National Independent Party, Taraggi and Musavat held discussions periodically. The agreement was signed between Taraggi and Musavat in 2003, which is in force today.
Five opposition parties will come to an agreement concerning the participation in the upcoming presidential elections in the near future. There are plans to establish the Election Bloc with the participation of five parties.
АТА unites 21 opposition parties. Nine of these parties received state registration.
