Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 March / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / MPs of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) will go to the front line in the near future, MP Vahid Ahmadov stated to journalists on 12 March.

Since 4 March, there have been violations of the ceasefire agreement on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia. There have been injuries and deaths caused among the military and citizens.

Presently, the number of MPs to visit the conflict region has not been specified. The key goal of the visit is to analyze the situation on the contact line.

The conflict between the two countries of the South Caucasus began in 1988, due to the Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, the Armenian Armed Forces have occupied 20% of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its seven neighbouring districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement which ended active hostilities. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France, and the US) are currently holding the peaceful negotiations.
