Three More Candidates for Membership in Azerbaijan Council for State Support to NGOs

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 March / Trend corr S. Ilhamgizi/ Three more candidates have been selected for membership to the Azerbaijan Council for State Support to NGOs, namely the chairman of the International Union of Disabled Persons Davud Rahimov, the chairman of the Bind People Society Samiyar Abdullayev, the chairman of the youth organization for refugees and IDPs Vugar Gadirov.

The Council for State Support to NGOs is being established in accordance with the decree issued by the Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on 13 December 2007. The Council will unite 11 members. The NGOs fall under 8 groups and three candidates will be selected from each group (a total of 24 candidates). The President will appoint 8 members of the Council and 3 members will be selected from the State bodies.

On 10 March, 3 candidates from the NGOs engaged in human rights and democracy fields were selected to the Council. The representatives of NGOs engaged in the protection of families, women and children were selected on 12 March.

Davud Rahimov received 19 votes, Samiyar Abdullayev received 17 votes and Vugar Gadirov received 16 votes. President Aliyev will appoint one of them to the Council.
