Azerbaijan’s President Decrees on Conscription into Military Service

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 March / Trend corr S. Ilhamgizi/ Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on conscription of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic into active military service and on the transfer of servicemen from active military service to reserve units between April 1 and 30, 2008.

The decree covers all citizens of the country born in 1990- who are 18 years of age on the day of conscription, as well as those born in 1973-1989 and are under the age of 35, and those who have no right of deferral of service in the armed forces and other military services of the Republic.

Under the presidential decree, soldiers, seamen and sergeants who served their term of service envisaged by the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "On military service" will be discharged.
