Popular Movement of Azerbaijanis in Georgia to Take Part in Parliament Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 March / corr. Trend J. Babayeva/ The popular movement of Azerbaijanis, living in Georgia and entitled Geyrat, has decided to take an active part in the parliamentary elections- expected to be held in Georgia in early May, Alibala Asgarov, the head of the Movement said to Trend on a telephone from Tbilisi on 17 March.

According to Asgarov, his movement will nominate its own candidates who will take part in the parliamentary elections within the election roll of another party.

"The Movement has not yet determined the party, the election roll of which it will use to take part in the elections. Candidates can represent both the ruling and the opposition parties," Asgarov said.

According to Asgarov, the Movement called on Azerbaijanis living in Georgia to take an active part in the parliament elections.

The party of Georgian Azerbaijanis For Georgia, which was set up in February, will also nominate its own candidates for the parliament elections.
