Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 March / corr. Trend J. Babayeva/ Some 12 youth organizations of Azerbaijani nationalists will unite prior to the presidential elections to support a unified presidential candidate in 2008. Agasif Shakiroglu, the chairman of the Movement of the Democratic Youth of Azerbaijan said to Trend on 29 March.
The presidential election in Azerbaijan will be held in autumn 2008. Isa Gambar, the chairman of Musavat party and Serdar Jalaloglu, the chairman of Democratic party has already been nominated for presidency from the opposition. The Ruling Yeni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan) Party has nominated Ilham Aliyev, the current President for the elections.
According to Shakiroglu, the Youth Organization Direnish, Independent Azerbaijan, Liberation, Islamchi, Difai, Movement of Democratic Youth of Azerbaijan, Revival, Chirag Youth Center, Nur youth movement and the Union for Democracy are taking part in the discussions.
The constituent assembly will be held to elect the chairman of the Center after the agreement on the establishment of new center is signed, Shakiroglu said.
He said that Center will not support any candidate from the traditional Azerbaijani opposition.
The movement of Democratic Youth of Azerbaijan was established in January 2006.
