Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 March / Trend corr J. Babayeva/ Geyrat, the national movement of Georgian Azerbaijanis, will include its candidates to the Parliament in the list of candidates of the governing party - Unified National Movement, the head of the movement Alibala Askarov said to Trend in a telephonic conversation from Tbilisi on 31 March.
On 21 May, Georgia will hold parliamentary elections and 62 political parties of the countries intend to take part in them.
The Speaker of Georgian Parliament will head the pre-election party list of the governing party Unified National Movement (UNM). The final list of the UNM has not yet been completed, but it may include very famous people - scientists, businessmen, cultural figures, etc.
According to Askarov, right now, the discussions over nomination of two Azerbaijanis are being held inside the Geyrat movement. Askarov does not intend to participate.
"Taking into account the present authorities, there is no hope for solving the problems of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia," Askarov said.
The Georgian Azerbaijanis state that their rights in the country, in which they have been living for tens years, are infringe. Their rights are not equal with those of Georgians, which is reflected by the fact that ethnic Azerbaijanis are not represented in regional administrations, let alone high authorities.
Another problem, which impedes integration of Azerbaijanis into the social and political life of Georgia, is lack of knowledge of the Georgian language.
There are over 500,000 Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia, mainly in the Kvemo-Kartli region.
