Drug Traffickers Detained in Azerbaijan’s North-Western Region

Azerbaijan, Ganja, 12 May / Trend corr V. Mammadov/ The Law-enforcement bodies detained a group of drug traffickers in the north-western region of Azerbaijan and seized 30kg of drugs from them.

As a result of joint efforts by the regional office of the Central Administration against Drugs and the Oguz Police Office, Kamal Azizov, 74, and Nabi Nabiyev, 38, both Oguz residents, were detained when trying to sell 29.631kg of marijuana.

"Drug traffickers were detained in-between the Oguz Sheki regions when attempting to sell the drugs for 8,000 USD," Rafael Ismayilov, Deputy Head of the Central Administration against Drugs' regional office, said to Trend .

Azizov was transmitting drugs to Nabiyev to sell them at the barber's, where he was working.

A criminal case has been field for contravening Articles 234.4.2 and 234.4.3 (manufacturing, sale, purchase, storage and distribution of psychotropic substances) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
