Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 May / corr Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security has detained a group involved in drug smuggling via Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia. As a result of the operative investigation, the Ministry seized 33.478kg of hashish, the State Commission on Drugs Enforcement, informed Trend .
Seven of 8-member group are Azerbaijanis and one is a citizen of Russia. An investigation has been launched into the case by the National Security Ministry in accordance with Article 234 on illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances, use, purchase, preservation, delivery, transit or sale of drugs. The investigation is in progress.
The commission said that employees of the National Security Ministry also detained a citizen of Iran and two citizens of Azerbaijan, seizing 1kg heroin from them. An investigation has been launched into this case as well.
