"At the moment Parliament's high ranking officials are studying this case, and we will do everything in our power," Oktay Asadov, speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament said in the meeting of Parliament on 16 May.

Etimad Ismayilov was detained by the Russian Federal Security Service officers at Domodedov airport on 25 March while returning from Baku to Moscow. A case has been filed into fraud and money laundry in line with the Russia's Penal Code. Ismayilov was arrested on 27 March by the verdict of the Chelyabinsk City Court. The investigation on Etimad Ismayilov's case has been postponed until 24 August by the Federal Security Service.

Azerbaijani entrepreneur Etimad Ismayilov is the owner of Eurasia industry and finance group.

Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of the Popular Front of the Unified Azerbaijan party said that some 20 MPs appealed the Russian President Vladimir Putin and chairman of the Russian parliament Boris Grizlov several months ago, requesting that the Ismayilov's case to be considered by the Moscow Court. However, there did not get any positive reply.

" Russia demanded to extradite its citizens who were imprisoned to life sentence in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani parliament should not ignore the arrest of Ilyas Ismayilov's son. There is a need to appeal the Russian Parliament so that the case is considered in Moscow. We should demand extradition of our citizen if it is necessary," he said.

According to Hasanguliyev, Russia does not observe laws, therefore Etimad Ismayilov's case cause anxiety among us.
