Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May / Trend corr. E.Babayev / The MP group of Musavat party, which present opposition in the Azerbaijani Parliament, will submit a Bill to improve the social problems of Azerbaijani servicemen. "We believe that we must take into consideration the current hike in prices and take certain steps to improve the social problems of servicemen," MP Panah Huseyn, Chairman of Musavat MP Group and member of the standing Parliamentary Commission on Defence and Security, stated to Trend . Musavat MP Group unites five MPs.
According to the information released by the standing Parliamentary Commission on State Service at the Presidential Administration, the State service is divided into nine categories in Azerbaijan. The servicemen of first category receive the salary of over AZN1,000. The servicemen of ninth category receive the salary of merelyAZN100.
Huseynov stated that first of all there should be followed the demands of the Bill on 'Status of State servicemen'. By the Article 10 of the Bill, the salaries of servicemen must not be lower than the average salaries of state officials. "Currently, the officers receive only AZN32. This sum is low in the condition of the recent increase of prices. Servicemen should be provided with houses. Presently, single officers receive only AZN 40 to lease apartment. It is impossible to lease apartments for this sum either in Baku or in regions of the country. The expenditure on Army does not equal with the current inflation rate in the country," MP said. The insurance of people, who is drafted to the military service, should be restored. The regulations regarding detention of servicemen in the Criminal Code should be softened. The state of servicemen in Azerbaijan, according to the MP, should be at least equal to the state of servicemen in the countries that have the similar development rate. "We believe that relevant political steps will be taken on the threshold of 90th anniversary of the Armed Forces in Azerbaijan," MP said.
On 26 June, the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces will be marked.
