PACE Committees to Discuss Azerbaijan’s Obligations

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Monitoring and Standing Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will discuss situation with fulfillment of Azerbaijan's obligations undertaken before the Council of Europe. "The meetings of the Monitoring and Standing Committees will focus on the project of report prepared by the co-rapporteurs with regards to activities of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan," the Head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament's Commission for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Samad Seyidov, reported to Trend .

The meeting of the Monitoring Committee will take place on 26 May in Kiev and the meeting of Standing Committee in Stockholm.

According to Seyidov, the meetings will cover ecological situation appeared due to chemical wastes thrown into the Black Sea, democratic institutions in Europe, situation in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, results of the parliamentary elections in Serbia and Georgia.

The PACE spring session which will take place at the end of June will discuss fulfillment of obligations undertaken by Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan became full-right member of the Council of Europe on 7 January 2001.
