Azerbaijani, Ukrainian Presidents to Negotiate on 22 May

Ukraine, Kiev, 21 May / Trend corr Z. Novosvitski/ The official arrangements regarding the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Ukraine will take place on 22 May, Ukrainian Presidential press-service reported.

The official welcome ceremony for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will take place on the porch in front of the Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat on 22 May at 11.00am in Kiev time. Then Ukrainian President Viktor Yushenko and President Aliyev are expected to hold a tete-a-tete meeting, after which the two presidents will exchange state awards.

Ukrainian-Azerbaijani negotiations will commence at 12.00pm under the chairmanship of Ukrainian and Azerbaijani Presidents. They will discuss a wide range of issues regarding mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic and cultural fields.

The agenda of the visit envisages adoption of the Charter of the Council of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents, signing of Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the sphere of information sciences and informational technologies, development of state service.

Moreover, it is planned to pass the program on cooperation in the field of youth policy and sports between the Ukrainian Ministry on Family, Youth and Sports and Azerbaijani Ministry on Youth and Sports intended for 2008-2009.

It is planned to sign a protocol on cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2008-2012 and a Memorandum on mutual understanding between the Ukrainian State Committee on Securities and Stock Market and the State Committee on Securities attached to the Azerbaijan President's Administration.

The Presidents of the two countries will discuss actual issues of international character, including intensification of cooperation within the framework of GUAM.
