Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 June / TrendNews/ Europe displays an interest towards Azerbaijan's energy resources to diversify the energy resources. The EU Special Envoy for South Caucasus, Peter Semneby, said after meeting with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov.
"Azerbaijan is an important country for Europe due to its energy resources," Semneby said.
The EU Special Envoy arrived in Baku to attend International Oil And Gas Exhibition. He will hold meetings with Azerbaijan's senior officials and representatives of civil society.
In 2006 the EU signed Action Plan within Neighborhood Policy Program with Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. EU and Azerbaijan also signed Memorandum of Understanding which will serve establishment of energy partnership between European Union and Azerbaijan and envisages strengthening Europe's energy secutiry.
